It's hard to condense someone's life into a few words . Mark was a very unique friend .I first met him at Blanchet and remained friends throughout the remainder of his life . Some of the first interactions with him were on a ski bus that Will Anderson organized every Friday night to Alpental . It was there that I was introduced to his sense of humor . We both worked at restaraunts in high school ,he at the Black Angus and myself at the Hungry Turtle on Lake Union . We shared our war stories from work often. We played poker together from the age of about 15 once a year the night before Thanksgiving with Mike and Kevin McCarty ,my brother Steve, the Quinn brothers Tim,Jeff and Greg and my Dad with occasional guest players like Will Anderson ,Tim Ochs ,Jerry Seng and Glenn Mcdevitt .It seemed Mark always won. We still play this game to this day but now Mike and Mark are there in spirit guiding us . One last event that occurred back in High School that I remember fondly was when Mark organized the rental of a Uhaul van to transport about 20 of us to what I think was a Led Zeppelin concert . Those of us in the back were completely in the dark for our journey to the Coliseum and were also ,unbeknownst to us , limited to the amount of oxygen that was in the back of the van when we left. There was a fair amount of the terrible weed of the time being consumed and when we arrived and the back roll up door opened a huge cloud of smoke gushed out and our oxygen was very near depletion . We lived to tell the story but it was a near disaster we luckily escaped . I'll always remember the dignity of Mark in the last days of his life and will cherish his friendship for the rest of my days .
